One of the biggest decisions you will face as the big day approaches is choosing the perfect wedding dress. You may have had a clear mental picture of your perfect wedding dress ever since you were four years old but on the other hand, you may have absolutely no idea what you want to wear. The important thing is to relax, and remember that there are as many different kinds of dresses out there as there are different kinds of brides!
Shopping for your dress should be one of the most enjoyable parts of your wedding preparations, so here are some tips to take the stress out of buying your dress:
- DO start early – if possible, 12 months before your wedding day. Aim to have ordered your dress with at least 6 months to go.
- DO read wedding magazines and browse the internet for styles that appeal to you.
- DO work out a realistic budget before you go shopping - and stick to it!
- DO make an appointment - this means you get a member of staff to help you and plenty of time to browse.
- DON’T take too many people with you – one person whose advice you trust is perfect.
- DO try on different styles to find the look that suits you best – they always look better worn than on the hanger.
- DO choose your accessories with your dress. Veils and tiaras just don’t look right with jeans!
